Mobile Cloud Networking

Future Communication Architecture For Mobile Cloud Services

” size=”h3″ style=”style1″ animation=”none”][/blox_heading][/blox_column][/blox_row]

Period: Nov. 2012 – Oct. 2015

Project type: FP7-ICT Large-scale integrating project (IP)

Funding: ICT Programme (European Commission)

URL: http://www.mobile-cloud-networking.eu/

Objective: MobileCloud addresses a mobile network with decentralized computing and smart storage, offered as one service (on-demand, elastic and pay-as-you-go). The top-level objectives of the MobileCloud project are two-fold. On the one side, to develop a novel mobile “network” architecture and technologies, using proof-of-concept prototypes, to lead the way from current mobile networks to a fully cloud-based mobile communication system. On the other side, to extend cloud computing to support on-demand and elastic provisioning of novel mobile services.

GROW Contribution: Besides contributing to general aspects, e.g., scenarios and architectures, there are focused contributions on radio network areas (management of virtual radio resources and load-balancing between radio-bearers and BBU-pools).

Partners: British Telecommunications (UK), CloudSigma (CH), France Telecom (FR), Fraunhofer (DE), INTEL (IE), ITALTEL (IT), NEC Europe (UK), NEXTWORKS (IT), One Source (PT), Portugal Telecom Inovacao (PT), SAP (DE), Soft Telecom (ES), Tech. Univ. Berlin (DE), Telecom Italia (IT), Univ. Bern (CH), Univ. Twente (NL), ZHAW (CH)
